HELP......PCM not responding
HELP......PCM not responding
I'm loading a program from PCM4less on my 95 Z and I'm getting an error when I run flshread.......it says ERROR.....no response from PCM.............HUH........I'm no genius so any help would be appreciated......
OK I think I've found the problem.............I'm using windows ME and opening the MSDOS "shell window".......I have been told that you can't do it this way.....but I don't know how to do it any other way.....I think you have to go to a web site and download another "True MS-DOS" version......does this sound right?
Try doing a command prompt only boot... When you turn on the computer, hold the F8 key down before the Windows logo shows up. You should get a menu. On the menu select Command Prompt Only and press enter.
This should get you to a command prompt, now navigate to and run your flashread program.
Try creating a boot disk in Windows.
Click on start
Click on settings
click on control panel
double-click on add/remove programs
In the add/remove programs window, you should see a tab that reads Windows Setup. Click that.
Click on create startup disk
Follow instructions.
When you're done, make a note of the folder that the flash programming stuff for the car is in.
Close all windows and shut down the computer.
Put your boot disk in drive a: and boot up the computer to a command prompt.
Now you're in true DOS.
do a "CD c:\whaterfolderyouwrotedown" to get to where you saved the program for the PCM.
run your software.
If you can't make a boot disk, borrow one from a buddy.
