Just bought this 97 LT1 Camaro. Was checking the car out and went to shut the lights off with the engine running and the headlights would not go off. I thought it might be the switch but when the car is not running you can turn the headlights on and off. Any ideas???

 

Was it dark out? Do '97s have the automatic headlight feature?

 

I dont know if it was standard, but my 97 has it so i know you could get it. One way i think you can check it is to start the car in neutral with the emergency brake on and go look to see if they are off, if you have the auto headlights they will stay off untill you take the e-brake off.

 

Daytime running lights?

 

Yep, its a factory option that I was not aware of. Lights go out in the day, except for the two front parking lights.
