Just curious if this is good option for us LT1 guys that wanna do a SD tune for our FI'd projects?

Thanks

I've been playing with speed density tune lately with my boosted LT1 and can basically conclude anything under 2bar (~14-15psi) works fine with the stock PCM using a program scaled for 2 bar and a 2 bar sensor.

It all started because my MAF maxed out at 5500rpm and sufferered from high PE Enrichment values (almost maxed around 6200rpm + 7psi) and was wondering what to do to reference boost so went to SD mode one day and realized that was the best thing I ever did.. all PE enrichment are set to 0 with the VE tables correct. Should have switched along time ago. I switched to a 2bar sensor at the same time which makes it the second best thing I ever did.

Not sure if your situation compares but if your interested you can read this overly long thread...

Question... Could you still run closed loop mode with setting the MAF frequency cal number to maximum (with LT1_edit version 2.2 - Stock 10700 to approx 65000)?

Is there better diveability with SD mode?

Also, I zeroed PE vs. Temp and only use PE vs. rpm on WOT closed loop mode for ease of tuning afr (with a Dynojet WB O2 of course). I had to mod the MAF cal curve (dropped -2%) and BLM update learn trigger to achieve 14.7 afr for closed loop mode @ part throttle cruz (trying to get some gas mileage).

My app... 97ss obd2 383 - D1 pulley/r @ 7.6-->3.4 intercooled + Meth/ h20 M6. Good video. B.

well not sure what maxing the MAF values will do I just disabled it in the main screen so it's like it's disconnected.

I noticed much better response going to SD compared to MAF

I didnt like the 1bar boosted setup because there was a "blind" area beyone 100kpa for timing and fuel... I always wondered what 85% throttle would do to the AFR since PE vs RPM is the only table it's using once the MAF is maxed. I also gained timing since now there's not a drastic fall off from 95-100kpa (beginning of boost using the 1bar setup)

To tune the SD tables once the MAF is disabled I ran it, logged it, and used VEMaster to clean up the tables a bit. Now I use the VE tables to richen/lean AFR instead of using the PE vs RPM... much more accurate under all throttle/boost conditions.

My closed loop fine tunes cruise and other part throttle all to 14.7... would def keep closed loop, just not the MAF if it's maxing on you.
