A guide to Tuner Cat

I am still deciding on either LT1 edit or Tunder cat, the main reason is price but also all my PCMforless.com files are Bin's which are from Tuner cat. I have a pretty close tune but with the injector upgrade and dyno tune I didnt know which way to go.

I am looking for a guide to the software, so to the hopes I cna understand it and use it correctly.

Thanks

Re: A guide to Tuner Cat

If you're asking whether you should buy LT1Edit or Tunercat...you need to do a search as that has been asked frequently.
As far as a "how to" for Tunercat, you need to basically jump in and get your feet wet. I don't think there is a guide that anyone has written for it. Quite a few of us had started to, but it didn't get very far as it probably wasn't worth it cause the same questions would just get asked in this forum anyways.

I know how you feel. I would pay anything to have a TC book that addressed every constant and table. I cant see myself getting my feet wet on something I spent so much money on. But as far as which is better TC comes out on top everytime in my book.

Dan K has a sticky in this forum with some very good info in it. Also reading Injuneers scanmaster write up will really help you understand what your getting from your data logs. Basically what I have done as Im learning, is just do a search on here for what you need to adjust and see what others have to say.

This may help you http://members.nuvox.net/~on.roz/cars/z28/tuning.html

Heres the link for freds write up: http://members.aol.com/InjuneerZZ/ScanMast.htm

And yet another good read: http://para.noid.org/~lj/

Re: A guide to Tuner Cat

It is a lot of reading and understanding how the computer references different sensors and such. I knew nothing when I started, now I feel comfortable enough to tackle just about anything. Hell, the first car I started on was a high dollar 396 with 2 stages of spray and things went fine.
I think once you get Tunercat and read the file in your car, you'll get going. Open up your file, see all of the different tables, and start searching in this forum for what each table does or doesn't do. Honestly, for most mild setups you aren't going to touch 75% of the tables.
And I think just about every possible situation has been covered in here in previous threads.
But really...search search search and you'll find lots of things as you go. I know I did.

The other thing to remember when you're just starting is to start with the DTC's and constants table (see the sticky), then idle tune, part throttle tune, and last wot tune.
