getting set for tuning
It will run on vista, mine does anyway. You need to install and run it in Compability mode. Buy your cable from AKM cables and get the usb box. It will come with a disk with the drivers you need and instructions on how to set it up on a vista machine. If I can do it anyone can

Can I run the Tuner program under Windows Vista?
The Tuner and RT Tuner programs can be run under Microsoft Vista. Please follow the following steps to install these programs on a PC running Vista.
1. First you must be logged on as an administrator.
2. In order for the programs to install correctly the installation programs must be run in Compatibility mode. To install the program on a PC running Vista download the setup program for the latest version of the Tuner program from the 'Downloads' page on our web site.
3. After downloading the file unzip the setup program. Before running the setup program right click on it. Select Properties from the list and then click the Compatibility tab. From there, pick the default Windows XP SP2, click on the 'Apply' button and then click on the 'OK' button.
4. Now run the setup program to install the Tuner program.
5. After completing the installation you'll also need to set the Tuner program to run in compatibility mode. To do so, go to your Tuner folder (normally c:\program files\cats\tuner) and locate the Tuner program application file (Wintnr.exe). Right click on this file, select Properties from the list and then click the Compatibility tab. From there, pick the default Windows XP SP2, click on the 'Apply' button and then click on the 'OK' button.
I installed datamaster and some other programs I run on xp on my vista laptop too. No problems running them on vista after I did that.

did it fire up and run? It seems like I had to tell it to install in Compatability mode. I'll look at the instructions I got with my usb drivers.

http://www.akmcables.com/ OBDI with OBDII plug end for my 95. I bought the one that hooks into a usb port. You can also get the same thing only for an rs-232 serial port if your laptop has one. Call Andrew at AKMcables and tell him what you have and he will fix you up.

you are correct, 03 requires a chipburner and some chips or a very expensive emulator. You will be well over the cost of a dynotune by the time you get everything bought. best to shop around your area for a dyno that can tune it for you unless your serious or plan on changing things a lot.
edit: the original post says it's a 94 PCM, in which case you won't be needing a burner and it's much cheaper.

Ahh, ok I am sorry. My bad. I was on the way out of the house and caught your sig. Seen it was a 93' and wanted to post it up before you go buying stuff you couldn't use. Sorry for not taking the time to re-read your first post!
