do we have an electronic device for measuring HP yet?
I was talking to one of my "ricer" buddies who had a prelude that actually ran pretty quick. He had "Hondata" which sounds comparable to our LT1 Edit and tuner cat. He said when he had his engine installed, they didn't dyno it on the rollers but hooked it up to a computer and measured HP....????? maybe he meant some hi-tech professional computer in a professional facility but i took it like it was an on-board computer measuring it while driving on a track or something. ...so maybe i took it wrong but it does seem possible that Lt1 Edit could be programmed with some kind of a feature to atleast give a fairly close estimate of horse power and torque since it taps into the computer and all. maybe i'm full of crap but you'd think you could have alot of the Gtech features in it when you're logging too such as 0-60 times and 1/4 times.
just an idea, i'm sure you guys no more than i do about this stuff and could tell me if there are any problems with this idea.

I've got the "Road Dyno", which is a little box, that measures the rpm over a given time period. With that info, gear ratios, car weight, frontal area, and a few other things, it can calculate how fast the car(a known weight) is accelerated over time, and calculates HP. Do a search on the net for Road Dyno, and you'll find the website for it.
last spring i was in a calculus course at college and using times from an 1/8 mile track i ended up estimating my times for 1/4 track. when i finally made it to the 1/4 mi track, i ran exactly what i had estimated within thousandths of a second for my best run. (granted i was a stock car and didn't have serious traction issues to worry about).
but from those graphs and calculations and the weight of my car i could probably calculate how much HP is actually getting to the ground, but there would be important factors left out such as drag force and gears and stuff like that.
but it's really not that difficult to get an estimate of these numbers as long as you have a mathmatician, so maybe LT1 edit will install some new features in future programs to make it an even more desirable program.

I don't know if LT1 edit would be a good program for this but any of the scanning software products could pretty easily include it if you put in (or if they measured and put in) the vehicles weight and frontal area.
