i'm having trouble getting my datamaster software to communicate with my aldl on my 91 OBDI...

the software only comes up with a com 4. i only have com 1.

anyone else ever have this problem or have an idea on what i can do to fix it?

 

You have more of a windows issue than a Datamster issue..

Check your installation and your drivers or so and restart or upgrade to a different OS. I recommend winxp..

Check the AKM website, Andrew has some information on torubleshooting serial port problems. Also, look in the datamaster manual, there is a section on solving communication problems.

I agree with Highlander, this is most likely a PC configuration issue. Check the windows device manager under "Ports" and look for disabled ports of conflicts. You may also have to go into the PC BIOS Setup and enable a port if it is turned off!
