Unhappy could the TPS really make a difference???

could the TPS setting at idle really make a difference on an OBD II car? My tuner had mentioned that the TPS should be set at .67 V at idle. I always thought that on an OBD II car, as long as it was set at between .3-.9 V, the PCM sets that voltage as idle voltage and everything is fine. PERHAPS that's wrong. I've been having a historical misfires in just the first 4 cylinders (cylinders #1,2,3 & 4). no codes. So, last nite, i slotted the TPS so that i can rotate it and set it at .71 volts. It had been set at .52 volts. I drive to work today. I would normal run a history of 500-800 misfires for those cylinders for the drive. I get to work and check the misfire history and it is 0. HMMMM....I'll be going out to lunch...we'll see how we do. "THE MORE I THINK I KNOW ABOUT THESE CAR, THE LESS I ACTUALLY DO."

Unhappy

well, it reduced the misfire history by about 1/2 overall. in the cool mornings, no misfire history. In the heat of the afternoon, seems to be about 1/2 of what i would have expected. encouraging....

well, got rid of the misfires in cylinder's 1,2,3 and 4. I advanced my base timing by 2 degrees and added 10% more fuel over my base setting. I had no historical misfires yesterday.today, i reduced fuel back to 5% over base. we'll see how we do. I did knotice , as i played with my base timing (advancing and retarding from my base setting), the split BLM's would come and go. seems to definately affect them. I re-balanced via the adjustment to the Throttle plate stop screw that then affects TPS and IAC counts. Interesting car...smile...
