Exclamation Checking SES light without HPP or laptop

is there a way to check my SES light that came on last night at the top of 2nd gear and not sure what it is. Is there any way to find out what it is without having a HPP or laptop tuning software or having me go out and buy some junk *** code scanner to fine out what it is??????

Thanks,
nick

The only way to obtain the code is with a code reader or scan tool. No short cuts with OBDII. Check a local AutoZone. They can usually pull the codes for free.
