CC306 Tuning

Hey guys!. im still trying to pinpoint the problem with my car. Its in my description. Any other questions about it just ask. I was wondering if someone could perhaps look over my tune. I hate questioning expertise, but things happen. It is crazy rich. Blows black smoke when i give it a shot. its just not nice. Someone has to have an idea. thanks!!

Re: CC306 Tuning

Do you have a tuning program like tunercat or lt1 edit? Do u have datalogging software? Have u pulled a plug yet after a WOT run?

I have a cc306 and have been tuning mine for over a year now and have learned alot.

not i have not pulled a plug because i havn't get my "great fitting" pacesetter y-pipe on it yet and after i drove it for a bit i noticed it started to melt my fuel lines. yes i have all of the software. it wont idle by itself though. seems to run fine up to the 7000 mark when i tried it the first time.

Re: CC306 Tuning

When a car won't run after a cam change, it's probably more related to a physical problem than a tuning parameter, however, without knowing what has been done already, just make sure your idle is set a little higher and maybe advance your timing a bit if it surges and check that your injector constant is correct for whatever injectors you are using... Those are good starting points. You need to know how to tune and troubleshoot an EFI engine to do much more than that. I'd say check and recheck the basics - make sure you don't have any burnt wires, get rid of any vacuum leaks and also exhaust leaks, make sure your O2 sensors are working, all wires and connectors in good condition, no cracked spark plugs or wires not snapped fully into the opti towers, fuel pump isn't taking a crap...

One other thought about running rich..
OP said

If you are you running open headers, depending on distance from O2 to exhaust outlet, CAM overlap, and air flow angle at exhaust you can get lean O2 readings that can cause rich conditions. Rule of thumb, O2 s/b at least 12 inches or more from the end of an open header. Exposure is more evident at lower RPM, goes away at high RPM ranges.
