Can't get knock to show on Freescan

My Freescan does not show the knock but has the space where it should be at. Does anyone else show the knock other than the knock count that doesn't change live but has a big number that changes from scan to scan? I was wondering about the sensor or the module now working correctly.

Knock retard shows up blank until you get some then a number will appear, for values bellow .5 it wont show up at all (though it will show up in the datalog)

Well that leaves nothing to do but take it for a spin with the laptop. Thanks

Go WOT hard through at least 2 gears (the higher the gear the better)

Tap on the block with a hammer. That should get you some knock.

Well i tried the hammer trick and went all over the block and really smacked it good with no knock being shown on the Freescan.

Perhaps your KS is not picking it up or you have it programmed out of your computer.

Does the knock cause anything to change in relation like rpm's or such. Can you test the sensor? What would the computer do if you had a sensor that was broken and it was unable to detect it? Would it go into some safe mode and retard a lot more to be safe?

You would get a trouble code if there was an open circuit to the sensor and you would see the timing constantly retarded because of it. There is a little knock sensor testing info on my Tech Page and I think Injuneer has listed some testing info before.

I have never had a check engine light or code thrown since my EGR valve was replaced 2 years ago. I have had some sensors unplugged while checking things and never got a code or anything. What can i unplug of safely do that will throw a code for sure so i can see if the computer shows it on my scanner?
