buddies mustang gt vs. my ss

Why is my buddies 2002 mustang gt with a cold air kit and exhaust almost beating my 1999 ss with ls-6 manifold, slp cold air induction kit, slp maf, 3000 stall, and exhaust? I think my car needs to be tuned but shouldn't I be blowing him out of the water?

if you lose, sell your camaro and buy a minivan.

I can beat that in my car.

He's not beating me but it is pretty close. Well a lot closer than when I race other gt's, which is not even a contest.

Its not a good idea to measure the performance of your car based on a race with another car on the streets. Plus, if you are having some sort of mechanical problem with your car, a PCM tune is not going to be the magical cure. Is your car displaying any symptoms that would lead you to believe that it is not running up to par?

No, everything seems to be running fine. We raced when I was stock and he had the same mods and I beat him pretty bad, then I did my mods and it's a lot closer. Leads me to believe he has done somethings and is not telling me.

That could be it, hence the reason I mentioned it isnt a good idea to judge the performance of your car versus another car with unknown mods. If you are looking for some extra power though, a PCM tune is a cheap and easy way to do so.
