Bad LT4 knock module?

I have ran a search and can't seem to find specifically what I am looking for but when I have the LT4 knock module in my friend's '95 Formula it pings worse than the stock LT1 module until it is sprayed. As soon as we hook up datamaster with the LT4 knock module in the knock count jumps up to 10k and just goes up from there. Even with no load on the engine if he raps it up to 3k rpm in Neutral there is knock detected. It seems to run a lot better with the LT1 knock module but it will still detect some knock under load.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is he running stock timing tables?

Can you actually hear the detonation or are you looking at knock counts only? Since the LT4 KM is just a desensitized LT1 KM, its possible it might have been built a little too well... however you wanna look at it. But I did break an LT1 KM once by leaving it in my glove box to get knocked around and when I tested it out it was pulling almost max retard at all times.

Brad, I have not personally heard the car. I will have a chance to tomorrow for the first time. I think we are going to get a LT4 knock module and try that first. The only data logs I have from the car are all in open loop. Also yes he does still have the stock timing tables.

Oh man, this post just made me realize that since I replaced my properly functioning LT1 Knock module with the LT4 Knock module I've been getting knock retard. I think I'm switching back and see how it goes. I replaced the knock module when I swapped cams.
