Post '97 pcm in a '94 z28

i have a '94 z28 with a few mods.i recently came across a pcm from a '97 wrecked state police car that had the pursuit pkg in it.i put this in my '94 and seems to work fine but was wondering if anyone knows if this may cause any problems and what the differnce is between a "police package" and a normal z28.

I don't think they gave it any special engine tune. Might have different gearing, is it shifting funny or at odd times?

Also strange the pcm is giving a code because your car doesn't have the back two sensors.

You know you can do a search on www.car-parts.com. They have a ton of odb1 pcms for under $50.

I don't know how it works- 96/97 have crank sensor. Put the OBDI back in, but a cable and TunerCat and do it the right way

Kyle, it can't be that different or else an odb1 wouldn't work in 96/97 odb2.

Both probably have a sensor on the same wire that gives the same reading, their just in different places.

Hal- Just looked at the pinouts of both cars. The OBDII has a lot more wires- thats why I can't figure out how it works- There is nothing in the crank trigger wires on the OBDII. SO it doesn't get a signal, Just wondering how the OBDII ecm works without having all the sensers. It obviously works if his car ran. but I wonder if it worked the right way.

it does seem to shift sooner than my other pcm due to different gears.i did have it checked at a local gm dealer and we were unable to communicate with the pcm other than reading the vin# out of it.we could read all other sensors but not with the pcm.so its probably not working right.but my car is running.i will be putting my orginal back in and just reprogamming it.
