306 cam obd1 mail order tune...should I upgrade to obd2 and retune?
306 cam obd1 mail order tune...should I upgrade to obd2 and retune?
Car:
'97 LT1 6 Speed w/ 3.42 gears
CC306 Cam, ported and polished heads/intake, stock valves, 1.6 rockers, electric waterpump, longtubes, !cat, cutout, catback.
The car layed down 370rwhp with that combo. It gets about 15mpg mixed city and hwy with a very light foot.
There was a thread about gas mileage and the 306 cam and people were claiming over 20mpg (some as high as 25+) with that cam, which got me to thinking.
Could I get more power and better mileage out of an OBD2 conversion and a new tune?
My car came originally with OBD2 so I already have the computer. I converted to OBD1 many years ago and also have the AKM cable. The tune I'm running is a mail order open loop tune.
thoughts/suggestions?
