1987 IROC Any Ideas?

Hey guys,
Without going into to much detail and stick'n to the facts here it is.

I've bought an 1987 IROC 305 in good condition and have recently found that the car runs normal for a short while, with check engine light on, then runs really rough to the point of stalling. During this rough idle and running period the check engine light goes off and I'm unable to even rev the motor without it chocking itself.

I'm going to have this scanned soon but thought I'd ask if anymore has encountered something like this with their car.

Any help, suggestions or comments would be much appreciated.

The engine operation sounds like bad oxygen sensor(s), but the CEL is backwards - should be off when it's in open loop, then come on when it goes closed and finds a bad O2.

Unplug the O2(s) and see if it changes anything.

I had a similar problem with my GTA, turned out to be bad TPS.

I say this alot and it might sound stupid

if you think it's 02's, unplug them and it should run better.

Same goes for MAF, if you think it's that unplug it.

Same goes for Coolant Sensor on manifold... (assuming engines warm)

Try unplugging each thing seperately see what happens.

If one of the listed sensors are bad, it should run good/better with it unplugged.
