X pipe vs H pipe on First Gens....

What are your thoughts.

I sure miss the sound of my Bassani X and catback of my 99 Cobra.

H-pipe. X-pipes sound unnatural on a 1st gen. (Although people do it anyways. )

Anywhere I can find a soundbyte? I have Flowmasters and they are almost too loud for me.

What mufflers would be a little mellower at idle and wicked at WOT?

I love the classic sound of Thrush Super Turbos with the tips cut off at the rear axle. A buddy of mine has Hooker Aerochambers and says they're mellower at idle but still pretty mean at WOT. On my 67 RS I have a whimpy 2" exhaust and glasspacks. However I'm probably switching to a 2-1/4" system with an H-pipe and Super Turbos or Aerochambers. Heck I might even stay with glasspacks for that classic exhaust sound.

Dynomax Ultraflow in the oval sound nice, Magnaflows are the same design. Quieter than Flowmasters, but still has a nice rumble w/out the tinny sound of Flows.

The Superflows are a "turbo" or S shaped design inside. I had some on my 70 before the Ultraflows, man what a difference.

I'm running true dual 2.5" exhaust, cheapy long hooker headers, and dynomax super turbo mufflers. My car is pretty docile idle, but at WOT sounds like a real bad machine.
