White sludge in valve cover air breather.
White sludge in valve cover air breather.
Well I took the air breather off to clean it and polish up the valve covers. On the right side ( drivers side ) valve cover air breather there is this white sludge inside of it, what the hell is it? The other side doesnt have it. Im not sure if its do to age of these valve covers or what.
I don't know but if its white and sludge you better get to the doctor really quick....
Its water. When moisture mixes with the oil, it will turn it white. It is not unusual to get a small amount of this under certain conditions, especailly with aluminum valve covers, but it could be an indication of a problem. Does it go away when the car is run at operating temp? It should burn off after the motor gets hot. If not you may have a coolant leak.
Good Luck

It sounds to me that u might have a crack in the head or a blown head gasket check your rad see if there is white sluge on the rad cap or in the rad thn check your oil for the same if not then do a compresion test that will tell u if you have any blowby the vlves or rings
good luck hope its nothing to bad

Well there isnt alot of it, its just inside the one air breather not actually on the valve cover....... there isnt alot of it either I just havnt seen it before. Now keep in mind these valve covers sat on this engine for 7 years b4 I started her up for the first time in awhile and Im still using them
But I just gave it an oil change and checked the rad .... no white stuff
