What intake manifold for 12's ?
What intake manifold for 12's ?
Like i said what intake manifold would be good for a daily driven 79' camaro with a 350 in it. Would a victor jr. be alright to run on the street? I have the torqer II single plane right now and i will be getting a 750 speed demon carb. my goal will be to run in the 12's this summer.
I say ditch the torker and put a Performer RPM on it. The manifold alone is not what will get you into the 12s from the 14s, it is just part of the package. 12s don't require a radical package, just a good combination. The victor jr. is a good intake and you probably won't notice a huge difference when driving it, it just promotes more top end.
Actually, Car Craft (or one of those mags) did a test and the single plane made more low end torque on one engine combo. It all depends on the engine.
Personally, I prefer Weiand over Edelbrock. I ran the Team G for over 10 years on the street in a car that ran 12.90 in street trim. The Team G is less expensive than a Victor, and it comes w/ larger ports to begin w/ so you don't have to pay someone to port it for ya. Victor Jr. ports tend to be on the smallish side for porting purposes. This is why machine shops push them, more $$$.
That said, you don't have to have a single plane to run 12's. The Weiand Stealth or Performer RPM will work also.
Just get a manifold that is built for the RPM range of your cam. Cam choice , a good set of heads and a gear are more of what will get you into 12's than intake choice. If you drive an automatic, converter choice will go along with your cam choice.

I'd say you are still not going to get 12's with any manifold. The performer rpm will help, and a victor jr will hurt. I think you'll need some decent heads and a little more cam to get you there. My combo got me there (barely) after a couple years of tuning and some sticky tires.

The RPM, Vic Jr., Weiand Stealth... they all should be good for 12s. What your going to need now is a good set of heads. The Vortecs are prolly the least you will want. The Edelbrock E-tec 200s look pretty sweet. Supposedly they flow more than the GM Fast Burns and are cheaper. They're aluminum and have 2.02/1.60 valves which is pretty sweet too.
