Vortec truck motor

Hi

I found a Vortec 350 from a 97 Suburban at a salvage yard the other day cheap. I was thinking about swapping in a better cam, putting on a Perform RPM intake and putting it in my car. Then I started wondering about the EFI already on the motor. If you swapped in a lt4 hot cam, would the stock intake be any good? Would the stock efi intake, throttle body and injectors support that cam. If the intake is ok, wouldn't it run like an lt1 with the lt4 cam? Just a thought.

Thanks

ALthough I don't know to answer to your question (sorry), I have a few.

How much is "cheap", and do they have anymore 350 Vortec runners?

Or any big blocks?

I am willing to make the little drive to pick up one up for my next project.

*PS - I don't know much about it, but I dun I'd run the stock fuel injection with the LT4 hotcam or the CC306 - I am sure you have more mods planned, and the EFI may become more trouble than it's worth on a hot motor. Also, you'd have to have all the wiring and computers.

anytime we have dropped a vortec into an older car we take off the FI and drop on a new edlebrock manifold and a carb. Add a fuel pump and head off...

I figure the intake is designed for torque and would probably not flow enogh to make power above 4000 or 4500 rpm, but I don't know. It's just a thought. If I tried it with EFI, I'd probably want to use an aftermarket computer to keep from worrying with all the other stuff a factory computer controls. I guess the carb and intake route would be most flexible, though.

The motor I was thinking about using is gone anyway. I think I could have gotten it for around $500 for a 70k mile motor.
