vin ?
i am looking for a 69 camaro and am having trouble findin one in my price range so i was think of buying one with a 6cyl and was curious if the vin indicated what size motor the car came with for insurance reasons thanx
i wanna doubt your knowledge of the first gens but are you positive cause i have looked at 2 different cars one without a motor that has the 1243 first four and one with a 350 in it that has the same vin thanks
3rd digit is the engine code.
3rd digit: Model/Engine number:
3 = 6-cylinder (1967-69 with standard interior) , 4 = V8 (1967-69 with standard interior)
5 = 6 cylinder (1967 - 69 with custom interior) , 6 = V8 (1967 - 69 with custom interior)
There ya go!!

Close. The 3rd digit of the VIN, not the trim tag, determines if it's a 6 cyl or V8. A "3" is a 6 cyl, a "4" is a V8. The 67 is different with some of the coding for the deluxe interior, but a VIN of 124... is a V8 and 123... is a 6 cyl.
