Angry Vibration in driveshaft/rear end...

When I came home just now, under 1/2 throttle of more there was alot of vibration from under the car.

It vibrated sort of like a machine gun, not LOUD, but enough to notice. It could even be exhaust maybe seeing as I have open cutouts at the present time.

Earlier I did a 1-2 second powerbreaking burnout. It seemed like it could barely spin the tire(s). I only probably spun them around once because they were spun very slowly, but could that have messed anything up (DS/rear end)?

Somebody help.

Maybe the transmission took a crap? How many miles on it, does it seem to function well? If it was the rear end, it might have just locked up 100% or just $hit the bed right there and be unable to drive it. Look underneath at the driveshaft too, but if that breaks, the car can't drive either, because it would be broken off and the wheels can't even turn!

PS. I saw you have 3.73's on your pics page, never recalled seeing it, how is your mpg/cruise speed? I assume you have a Th350 trans, damn that ratio seems too high to use everyday. I was thinking of 3.23's for me at the MOST.....hmm.....Any developments on the car problem?

EDIT: I don't think it rattles, but if the car slips, it can be a torque converter.....but it wouldn't make that sound.......Just some ideas....

You might have damaged the torque converter. Can you be a little more specific about where the noise originates?

It's not the driveshaft or anything aft of the tranny tailshaft. If it was it would vibrate with SPEED, not engine load. Concentrate your diagnostic efforts further forward.

Alright, thanks. It's not so much a distinct sound as much as a vibration under 1/4 or 1/2 throttle coming fron under the car I think. I have thought it could be the torque-converter seeing as that's one of the main things that hasn't been rebuilt/replaced on the car. Would that be causing it to vibrate? How much for a new one?

The tranny was rebuilt well-under 15,000 miles ago so I don't think it's that. I'm not exactly sure about the mileage because my odometer doesn't work.

AJ, yea, I have 3:73's with a TH350. It probably is a little much, but I never leave the town. I'm not sure of MPG because of the lack of odometer, but the at 70ish MPH I'm a tad under 4000 RPMs. That's one of the reasons I stay inside my city when I'm driving my car.

Thanks for the responses thus far.

I got a B&M Holeshot 2000 TC for $150............Labor is a different world, though. The tranny has to be dropped to get it in there........
