tire size...

i have a 67 an i was wondering what the widest tire i can fit in the rear is... ive been getting a lot of people who are "positive" i can fit a 315 stock, but im highly skeptical...
any feedback would be awesome. thanks.

You can fit it; I've seen it done. But you better have the rear fenderwell up above the tires, and probably some air shocks to make sure they don't ever come down, because there's NO WAY that size tire will fit inside the wheelwell without a mini-tub.

If you want the fenders tucked over the tires at all it's a no-go unless you tub it. I personally don't think it looks good to have 2-3 inches of gap between the tires and fenders with that size of tire.

ok so then my follow up question... how wide CAN i fit without a mini tub, assuming my car sits fairly low. any ideas?

275/40-17 on a 17X9.5" rim and 5.5" b.s. Works without mods.
