Timing Tab?

Trying to time the 383 in my 69 RS and having problems. I bought a chrome Chevy tab and its hitting the 8" Proform balancer cover which fits pretty snug on my balancer. So now I bought a billet timing tab for an 8" balancer and it is still hitting. Is there something I'm missing? Help me out so I can get this thing timed.

Thanks

I am not familiar with the Proform balancer cover. I WILL say that most timing tabs/pointers only clear by about 1/16" on a stock diameter balancer. Any more clearance and you can set the timing wrong due to "line of sight" errors from looking at stuff at an angle. I think perhaps some slight modification to move the tab/pointer up a fraction of an inch would be the way to go.

They do make the adjustable timing tabs. To keep the cover, you will need one of these.
