I can't find that p/n on edelbrock's site or any other. It should be a 5 digit p/n like 60889 or something. Ask the guy selling the heads what the combustion chamber size is, intake runner volume is,valve sizes(intake and exhaust) and if they are angle or straight plug. The price looks okay if you can talk him down a bit...those heads are 1400 new plus taxes. If you want,PM me with the info after you talk to the dude and we'll see if they will work with your headers etc.

that sounds like alot to me for those heads. if they are the new design RPM heads, then maybe. but the older design didnt have a very good rep.. they are still descent heads, but not worth that much at all. I got my TFS twisted wedge heads for like $350 used. I got a good deal, but they are the old design and they are used.
how many miles? you def. need the 64cc heads, dont get the 76cc heads. make sure of that. have you looked on ebay? theres lots of good deals on SBC heads on there. you should be able to get some descent heads used for under $600. cheaper if you can deal w/Iron heads. for me, I really wanted the weight savings of the alum..

and Zedzag, Im not trying to be rude, so dont take this the wrong way, butyou are loosing alot of performance w/that intake. there's no reason you cant hang w/my Iroc w/a torquer II or an rpm intake. your trading off ALOT of low and midrange torque for some top end power, but you prolly arent getting anywhere near the 8000 rpm ability of that intake. If I had the money, Id be getting that edelbrock RPM airgap intake. Ive never seen that intake make less power then another intake. even the victor jr. but thats just my $.02.

No worries. Actually that intake is gone for a victor jr. I have access to a rpm but I'll run the victor to see what works best at the track. This is a cheap project and I'm using what I have laying around. The car only went 13.10 Not due to the manifold but due to the fat that my electric pump was mounted higher than the bottom of the tank and an aluminum line was crimped almost to half of its size. My 1/8 mile on that run was 8.3 @ 84 then it nosed over and popped the rest of the run. I know what you mean but I think the victor will be fine as my cam and my stall both start arounf 3000 anyway.

I'd go with Vortec heads.

Much better chamber design and they make *great* power. The downside is you need the guided rail rockers, and center bolt valve covers, but thats minor potatoes in my book.

But hey, if you want the Edelbrocks, you cant go wrong. Nice heads; they flow about the same as Vortecs but cost about double the price.

On the subject of intakes: The RPM is *the* class of modern high rise dual plane technology. I've read of a couple of dybo tests where the Vic Jr or Super Vic makes 1 or 2 HP more at the top of the tach compared to the RPM, but loses a lot of torque across the RPM band in the process. On a good street/strip combo, I would definitely go for the RPM. I have one on my 413"/Vortec head motor, and really like this intake.

Just my extra .02

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'd hold off buying anything you really dont need until you're back working full time. Otherwise you might be prone to settling for parts you wouldnt have bought otherwise.

Just a thought.

Talos, not trying to steer you away from vortecs as they are great heads for the money but if you plan to use them you have to buy different intake, rockers, and valve covers that won't work with your current heads. If you buy an intake now, then vortecs later, you need a vortec intake as well and can't use the first intake.
