th400 problems
figured i'd post here since a th400 tranny is more suited to the 1st and 2nd gens. i recently put a tci reverse manual valve body in my th400 tranny. followed the instructions to a T. reverse works perfect as does 1st and 3rd gear. but not 2nd. a split second after i shift into second the tranny locks up.

any th400 guru's please take a look at these instructions. on step 13 they have you put a spring and check ball in the hole next to the center support bolt. this is for the second gear release. one of the chevy techs at work that knows 400's pretty well says that if the hole isn't sealed completely then a leak there would cause it to lock up in second gear. he recomends taking out the spring and check ball then tapping it for a 1/4" pipe plug. anyone else got an oppinion on this? Pro Built Automatics already directed me to a guy at some aamco that is good with trans breaks but i can't call long distance and this isn't a trans break. and i haven't been able to get ahold of anyone at tci. i keep getting bumped around and put on hold. any response is greatly apreciated.

Your first mistake was buying a TCI product, but that isn't going to help you now.
Try calling Transmission Specialties (610)485-9110.
Or you could try calling Hipster Brake (262)251-7777.
It doesn't matter whether it's a trans brake valve body or just a regular manual valve body.

well i've never had problem 1 out of a tci product until now. but greg at tci got me squared away and now i am good to go. it is an error in there instructions. and they are redesigning the seperator plate to do away with this problem.
