Question T56 6-SPeed in a First Gen?

How difficult would it be to throw a newer T56 transmission into a '67 Camaro? My car is currently running a Saginaw M20 tranny, so it's already a stick car.

Hey, I just found this image:

Looks like they pretty much line up, huh?

T56s are 3-4" longer, and the trans mount is about 6-7" back from Muncie location.
It's not that hard, though. There are kits out there now for it. You can check the install notes on my website to get you started (even though mine is a 2nd gen).

I used Teetoe's kit above; excellent kit that fits exactly right.

A company named D&D makes a bolt in Viper T56. It is supposed to be the heat. No need to do the hydraulic thing. Every thing bolts up to your stock stuff. Except the crossmember and drive shaft.

I'm really partial to my mechanical clutch though, I'd hate to put all that hydraulic stuff in my car. What'd it end up costing you to get the T56 + the kit?

The D&D trans runs the mechanical linkage. It is $2,500 with the adapter plate and shifter. That isn't bad for a beefed up Viper trans. You just need to supply the cross member and drive shaft.

Yeah, I think that D&D T56 is the way I'm gonna go. First things first, I need to drop a posi chunk in my rear end and get some real tires on the back. Then I can start working on the transmission

There's a ZF 6 speed on ebay for a reasonable price. It is set-up for mechanical linkage. Since you already have the pedals and other pieces. You just need a modify your cross memeber.
