Question stock heads/dome pistons

hey guys i have a set of 194 stock heads and got a set of .275 dome pistons. do you have to have anything special to use stock heads with dome pistons? i was thinking of having the heads mill. so what would i need to do to keep the valves from going through the pistons? any info would be great. thanks

Here are a few things you need to know first. What is the volumn of the combustion chamber? An easy way to find out is to look up the casting number at mortec.com. Since they are stock 194 heads I would say you have 23* heads. Are the valve reliefs in the pistons made for the 23* valves or the 18*. Also what kind of valve lift are you planning on running. All these play a factor in what, if anything, needs to be done to the pistons. We are currently running TRW Forged domed pistons with advertised 12.5:1 compression for 18* heads. Our heads a 18* Bow Tie Cast Iron heads milled down to 65cc combustion chamber, with .600 valve lift. We are running close to the valves and it is not something I would recomend for the street.

One other question, why are you messing with a 1.94 valve head if you are planning on running domed pistons. Those heads are going to starve the motor, you are going to need heads that can flow better than those stock ones if you are planning a lot of modifications.
