Stall, Gears, Tires?

3500 stall... would that work with gears around 2.73's or 3.08's? My friend has a 327 with a mediocre sized cam, 3500 stall, and 308's?

Everyone keeps telling him that he'll be losing a lot of power/time on his 1/4. Is that true? Could a high stall and low gears really hurt your time? He plans on upgrading to 3.73's... but not for a little bit. Anything fellas?

Re: Stall, Gears, Tires?

I had a 327 with a torquer cam (232/234 .488/.488 108 LSA installed 1 deg adv), a 4200 RPM stall and a 2.29 gears. it FLEW.

if the cam doesnt need that much stall then its pointless, and he may be giving up time. but 327's LOVE to rev. and cams will seem bigger in one than in a 350.
