Question Someone tell me the difference between these 2 Hedman headers.

I'm getting desparate to find a header to fit these **** PTL heads on my Nova. The Hookers don't work, nor the no-name ones that came on the car and I've tried these Hedman's 65003 and they wouldn't work either. I was looking at Chevy High Performance magazine and a '69 had Hedman 65019's on it's AFR heads. So I looked up the 65019's and they're $450 compared to the $170 65003's. On the Hedman website I can't really find a difference between the two besides that the 65003's will work w/ AC(which mine doesn't have anyway. So does anyone know why the 65019's are so much higher? Here's a link to Hedman if you'd like to look. http://www.hedman.com/pages/hedmanmain.html

Summit even charges extra to ship the expensive ones for some reason. I'll call Hedman on Monday but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone here knows.

I searched all thru the Hedman site and can't even find the 65019... did you find a listing in the catalog?

What is not fitting on your car? I wasn't aware there was a major difference in AFR heads, at least in the 23 degree ones...

It's on their site. Click on Nova, it's 2 part #'s down form the 65003. The plugs hit.

Must be getting blind in my old age, because all I see 2 down is for big blocks, at least in the street section...

I had a problem with plug clearance on some Twisted Wedge heads, we had to grind off part of the flange and run some shorter plugs. If you have resistor plugs, the non-resistor type are shorter. Most of the Accel brand plugs are a little shorter also.

ok, I went to Summit and looked them up; they have footnote 105, which says on Hedmans site that they fit late model alum heads with raised exhaust ports and angle plugs. So they may be your ticket.
I would still call Headman and verify. I don't know why they are so high; they show to be painted steel. Maybe they are true equal length?

Oh, on the Hedman site you go to Race headers I think, then click on Street/Strip. I didn't notice that footnote at Summit. I'll call Hedman Monday. I'm pretty excited, even though they're $450 cause I'm crossing my fingers they'll work.
