Seat Removal
Anyone know anything about how to remove the rear seat of a 1980 Camaro? I cannot find any bolts or anything that would key off on how to remove them. I've yanked every which way on the darn thing and the rear bench will not come out.

Re: Seat Removal
third and fourth gen have one big bolt dead center in front of the bottom part of the seat, and i cant remember the back of the seat off hand, but most cars have that setup, and the back should bolt up similarly

Yes, it should be a friction-fit spring type thing. Most likely you will have to remove the upright part first, which can be done by a LOT of downward pressure approx. where your head would be if you were sitting in the seat. Just take both hands and press down hard, with a little force towards the front of the car. You should hear the spring pop out. There's the same on each driver's and passenger's side.
The lower part of the seat is held in the same manner. Here you will need pressure on the front edge center of the seat, towards the rear, and slightly up. I've had success using my knee. Is the seating portion one or two parts? I think it's the same mount locations either way, but am not 100%.
It WILL take a lot of force, but once you get it popped out, it will be pretty easy to understand how to do it again. Good Luck!!

My '67 SS and my '71 GT both just pop out. You gotta pull the bottom first, it's tricky. Sit your butt on the floor pan in the back, facing the front of the car, and then press down and back on the seat. It should pop, then you can pull it up. After that, you might see some bolts for the top part, or it'll just be tabbed in and it'll pop off.
