O-Ringed Block

I purchased a 80-85 truck block a year or so ago that is machined and ready to go but my question is, it has been 0-ringed. When i purchase heads do i need to have the heads machined for a receiver groove or can you run a head without any machining to it.

Anyone have possible gasket options as well.

Yes you can use a normal head gasket and not machine your heads. I think fel pro makes a gasket that acutaly has an o ring kinda thing in it and works well when ur block has o ring groove.

I will have to look into that. Do you typically or normally machine the heads as well or is it just the block.

Do you have a part number for that gasket ??

Well when using an o ring you machine the block and head and then use a gasket with the o ring.
If you use a gasket with an o ring groove and no o ring it still helps, as the gasket will deform into the groove and help seal the cylinder better.
For the Fel Pro gasket, I don't have the part number, but if you go with just a copper head gasket with the block grooved, you should be fine, and you'll have better sealing cylinders.
