Directly below the middle of the rear bumper? A friend of mine has a '68 and there's nothing back there, from what I remember. I don't know if it serves a purpose at all. As far as I knew, all of the fuel filler caps on '68's were all located on the rear panel above the bumper.

Belguim huh? I had an cousin who lived in Brussels a while back....what an beautiful place.

all 68's to the best of my knowlege had the gas filler above the bumper in the center. The hole where the license plate goes was on all of them as well but I have no clue as to what its purpose was.. if no one knows where try camaros.org since it goes pretty indepth in stuff like that. good luck

Hard to say on something this old. Can you tell if it's drilled or stamped, i.e. OEM or not. Could be for additional lighting for the Euro. plates or for trailer hitch wires??

From my experience - it serves no purpose.

Both the 67 and 68's have the hole and they do serve no purpose that I know of.

Stuff like that is usually found more often on Fords.

Existence of hole below the bumper is justified

Found out what this hole is for:
If you've ever dropped the fuel tank in your Camaro, this would help. When you re-install the tank, that hole is a good place to stick your hand through to get access to the rubber hose that connects the tank to the fuel filler neck.

Found this out today when a friend of mine put a new tank in his '68.

Hope this helps.
