Ramjet 502 in a 68 Camaro
I was wondering if anyone knew if a Ramjet 502 will fit under a stock flat hood on a 1968 Camaro?
A customer of mine is trying to decide on an engine and want it to be fuel injected and fit under a flat hood. Since the car already has a big block he was kinda wanting to keep it that way so I can reuse all his accesories and headers.
Thanks,
Ian

I don't think that you would be able to get that under a stock hood without cutting a hole in it. I don't know for sure as I don't have the measurements handy, but it appears much taller than a typical stock intake carb set up.

If this is the set up you are talking about

Thats the setup I figured someone on here may have put one of these in a 67-69 F-body and would know. I am going to try and get the measurements for the intake and see what kind of room I am going to have. I can always get a small cowl hood for it.

Thanks, I will check that out. I measured it and it is tight. It could fit with trimming the braces a little bit. Probably just gonna put a small factory type cowl hood on it. The motor should be here anytime. Its coming from Jegs. They sell it cheaper than the local dealerships can even buy it for.

I have come to find out that the car is an original Baldwin-motion and that somewhere down the line its been crashed and had a stock type hood put on it. I am going to buy the Baldwin-motion Hood and it should clear without a problem.

I got the motor last week ended up with the 502 Ramjet. Also the new heidts front subframe arrived today which was immediately sent out for powdercoating. I plan on starting next week puting this thing together.
Thanks everyone for your info.

I will post up some pics once I get started. The frame made it back from powdercoating. Still waiting on a flywheel before I pull the engine out of the crate. Once I get all the parts here I can start the assembly it should go pretty quick. It looks like we are also going to order up the new BMR torque arm conversion for the car also. I will post pics as soon as I can get some.

It won't fit under a stock hood without lowering the engine. I have a SS hood and it is gonna be close. I will at least have to cut some of the inner bracing.

The customer kinda ran into a few issues so it still isn't finished. The engine is sitting in it and that is about the extent of it. The way things are looking it will be another month or so before we get the go ahead to finish it.
