Radiator tech question.....

I think mine is probably original. Is it worth pulling it out and getting it reconditioned for $100 includes labor? Are there aftermarket radiators out there that will be more efficient?

Mine has a lot of debris in the front elements but car is not overheating....yet.

I bought a 3 row factory-style replacement for my car for about $180, and I have a flex fan and the stock shroud. My car usually stays well below 180 degrees unless it's really hot. $100 might be worth it, but you could also get a universal Griffin aluminum radiator for less than $200. Is yours leaking or anything?

I can get a factory style 3 row for like $219 less 20% from Classic Industries. I need to decide to day as I think the coupon expires today.

Well, that sounds like a decent price to me. If you've got the money to spare, it might be a good idea to take advantage of that. That is, of course, if your original radiator is fairly ragged. If it is truly original, I would think it will only be a matter of time before you need one anyway. Who knows, though, it may last for years to come.

I ordered one and will pick it up $189 total and no shipping since I am picking it up. Besides, I am going to need to buy some things to finish my carb and intake swap.....new upper radiator hose and some throttle and kick down cables.

I got an autozone stock replacement radiator for $149... It seems to cool mine fine too... The only thing I didn't like about it was that dumb plastic drain ****.. Other than that, it's been fine.

$189 sounds good. I think that's about what mine cost, I can't remeber now. lol I actually had a Griffin aluminum radiator before, but it was too narrow to use my fan and shroud, and my electrical system sucks so badly that it couldn't turn an electric fan at full speed. So there I was with an aluminum radiator and a Perma Cool fan and my temp gauge would often see 230 degrees.

Thanks all - went to pick up the replacement radiator from Classic Industries - nice place - great operation. My stock radiator doesnt look too bad, just needs cleaning. If anyone needs it, make me an offer - I can email pics later.
