Piston to valve clearence?

Hi everyone my name is Mike. Don't have a camaro yet but do have an old 76 truck I am building up.

Recently i just bought a Stock chevy head setup already machined and come with 1.6 rockers, Bigger valves and also got a new Cam Comp cam XE256H 447 in / 454 ex. Adv. Duration 256 in / 268 ex. Heads have been machined for extra lift for the valves as well so i'm not worried about that.

What i am worried about is valve to piston clearance. These heads are going on a stock 4bolt main 350 from 1976 with a stock compression of 8.5 : 1, 2 questions then? What would be my minimum clearance for this engine to safely run it for a DD and what is the math to calculate my extra lift for my rockers? Thanks! - Mike

take the valve lift and divide by 1.5...thats the cam lift....multiply by 1.6

With a 8.5 piston I'm sure you have plenty of room, but should check it anyway. .100" will be a good place for PtoV clearance. I would try and get some more compression out of that thing.

Is it a iron head?

Whats heads are they? Are they Vortecs?

8.5:1 with what chamber size? Are the heads you have now the same CC size? Not that it matters for PtoV clearance but more compression is good in this case.

With the pistons I would bet money your a mile away from the valves hitting the pistons with that small lift and low *** pistons.
