Angry pinion angle

I have a 67 RS Camaro with a small block 383 stroker with a 700r4 and a Ford 9" rear. I am having trouble with my pinion angle. Has anyone out there ever tried this combo and if so have you run into vibration trouble because of the pinion angle being off?
Thanks.

You got pinion issues because you put a Ford 9" in your car. They are known for that problem in a GM application. (This is one reason why guys put 12-bolts in 3rd gen Camaros as opposed to the Ford 9") You most likely have a geometry issue with respect to the 'north south' alignment of the driveshaft, because the 9" alters the factory location for driveshaft alignment. With the drop-out third member, you have a pinion sitting in a different spot on the diff than it does relative to the Hotchkiss-style GM 10 or 12 bolt factory rear ends.

You'll need to take your car into a chassis shop and get them to check it out for you.

The centerline of the pinion gear shaft must be parallel to the transmission centerline, both when viewed from the side, and also from the top. As long as those two angles are zero, doesn't matter where the pinion sits, driveshaft will be correctly phased.

In the real world, the pinion is usually set a few degrees down (2-4 degrees); how much depends on the application. This is so that the angle goes to zero under a full throttle launch.

Do a google search on "pinion angle" + setup and you will get lots of hits, including this one:
