Cool Picking up a spare block

I am going to be picking up a 350 4 bolt block over Christmas. It is an 010 block and is already bored .030" over. I am looking at doing a Stroker motor low compression and throwing a 8-71 supercharger on it. I am planning on going completely old school H.P. on this one and looking for suggestions for the build.

Throughout this process I am going to be replacing the transmission as well and I am looking at a Tremec T5 conversion for it. I also plan on putting a set of 3.73 gears in it before it hits the road.

This will have Cast Iron heads not aluminum, looking at 2.02 and 1.60 valves.

I am leaving it pretty wide open in the design standpoint so I can hear everybodys opinon.

good luck with it but just a little word of advice, that t5 will never hold up under that kind af power. look towards either a TKO 500, or TKO 600

Yea I meant the TKO 500 I just couldn't remember all the initials. This is going into the 70 the 2000 was sold last year for the avalanche. I just had way too many problems with the 2000 to keep it, but it was a fast and fun car.

Re: Picking up a spare block

Just keep the compression in the low 9's or high 8 and of course with a forged bottom end, at least pistons. Get a cam with a wide LSA, like 114 or 115, and keep the duration pretty conservative so as not to bleed off boost into the combustion chamber. I think I would also go with aluminum heads over iron as well. Boosted motors are much more prone to detonation, and with aluminum dissipating heat better, aluminum would be a better choice.

Other than that, just make sure and keep it running with a fat tune, like 11.5/1 air/fuel. Since you probably won't have an intercooler, this is even more critical. good luck

I agree that the aluminum heads will disipate heat better, but I want to go Cast iron and go old school most of the way on this build. All internals will be forged. Compression ratio is definately going to be low 9's or high 8's. Thanks for the advise on the cam.

I have some GMPP bowtie heads if you want them, I got them used, never used them , they look OK, but you would probably want to have them checked out, they are casting # 14011034 , PN 12480053 on http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/perfpart...373&section=ep.., if you want them , I'll sell them for $400(depending on shipping) if you want pics, PM me, I have some at home

Thanks for the offer on the Heads at this point I am only in the development stage of this motor. I am going to missouri over Christmas to pick up the block then it is going to be a slow and carefully thought out build up.
