Thumbs down no Z-28 for me BOOOOO!

as some of you read in one of my older posts,i was supposed to be buying a 1981 Z-28 this weekend.well, after driving for 11 hours in the middle of the night, dragging a friend with me and spending damn near 200.00 on gas,i totally wasted my time.

i went to pick the car up in southern FL.when i got there, the car looked nothing like the description, the engine was crap, the paint was horrible, and the interior sucked.i figured, hell i drove 800 miles,i am not leaving empty handed,SO I BOUGHT IT ANYWAY!the owner said i can drive it home no problem.the engine was in great condition!so my buddy followed behind me,and 30 minutes later, there i was broken down on side of I-75.the car was overheated and there was NO WAY i was gonna be able to get back to new orleans with that heap,so i called the guy i bought it from and told him the situation, and i wanted my money back.he told me that he had just paid some bills, and deposited the cash,so he would have to give me a check to deposit on monday(WHICH BETTER NOT BOUNCE<OR I WILL HAVE HIM ON JUDGE JUDY!)and i said fine, take the car back, give me the check and let me get back home since i totally wasted my weekend.

the main problem i have is that he was so dishonest about the car.had he said that the car was a P.O.S and it needed a ton of work, that would have been one thing,i wanted a project car anyway, but he told me that he had spent thousands of dollars fixing it,and blaintantly lied to my face.i am VERY p.o'd about the whole situation.i was happy as hell that i was finally getting an 81 z,and i got jacked instead.if anyone in or near new orleans has one reasonably priced, please LMK,i am dying to get a Z.i just ask that it be in"ok"shape.a nice running one would be good, but either way is fine with me.i CAN drive to get the car,but would prefer to not have to plan a weekend around it due to what happened to me today.

Did you give him the car back without getting your money in cash? If so you just totally f$%ked up! lol

Now he's got your money and the car! I can't believe you took his check. Good luck getting that straightened out though...I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

i had to give him the car, what was i going to do with it?i was stranded 800 miles from my house, and had enough money to get home, and that was it.i have a second"bill of sale"stating that i was giving him the vehicle back for the same price i paid, and his 2 checks.i know it sucks, and i may have been bitten in the ***,but it was the only thing i could do.

Dude that totally sucks. I don't know why people misrepresent their cars!! It's not like the buyer won't be able to tell when they come pick it up. Are you looking specifically for an '81 z?
On a side note, you never know, he could have spent thousands on it... I've spent 8000 Canadian on my 'bird total (including the price of the car) and it still doesn't run... lol... but that's cause I've blown two engines already racing

Good luck finding your car

i am really trying to get the 81 Z,those are teh best looking camaros IMO.i drove a 77 yesterday that had a 355,TH 400 combo with 3:73 gears, and a BUNCH of goodies in the engine.the owner said it ran 13.8's,i believe him too.this car hauled some serious ***.if i get that one,i will definitely be pleased, but i will still be looking for an 81 to buy as a resto-project.

I drove out to Cali to get my 81Z I agree they are the best looking, the 80 is the same just no computer. I paid 2100 for mine and it was in perfect rust free shape. just needed a interior and a freshening up, it runs 13.3 on street tires now.

yep,the check cleared without me having to go back to FL and burn his house to the ground.as for the differences the fenders, and the decals are really about it as far as i know, besides the 81 having the crappiest stock 350 of all the 2nd gen camaros, thats about it.

Consider yourself lucky on both counts... for the check clearing and having a crappy 350... for the 80-81 model years here in California all we could order was a 305.

It sucks when you dont get the truth! I bought a 70' camaro and the guy told me so many lies that it drives me nuts, but I still love my car and have many plans for it. When I did buy it I knew it needed alot of work, but it would of been nice to be told the truth. Actually I was looking for a 67' but found a 70' and it said my name. Good luck finding your 81'!
