Talking New to the "old farts" help me out

first off-
just kidding about the whole old fart thing

In the next few months I want to start a 69 Z28/RS
project...

heres a link to the cliff notes
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...threadid=45259

basically
where can I get one?
I'll paint and do anything in the motor
Tranny, rear end and such will be sent out.

I dont really care much about performance, more about engine life and the "classic/classy" look over the lose cannon, crazy kid image which the 95Z took care of pretty well
383

is it true about how cheap parts are for a genI motor? heads, cams, rockers, lifters, valve covers etc?

thanks
trey

As to where you can find one, that's not easy. A lot of people want one.

But parts are cheap. Heads, intakes, etc. And they are easy to fix by the side of the road if they give problems. No need to hook anything up for a diagnosis, just your eyes and ears.

The only parts on a car that are expensive is body and interior. A ripped up dash, missing HVAC stuff under said dash or a badly rotted body and/or frame and you're in for 10 large for openers on top of the purchase price.

You're best bet is a good body and interior with a blown motor every day of the week. If you don't know about 1st gen Camaros there are services that can help you through your first purchase by providing expert advice (on-site help would be the way I'd go). There have got to be 5 billion fake 69 SS Camaros running around asking a lot more than they are worth.

Engine and drivetrain are easy. Parts cost nothing. Buy a complete crate motor for $3000 with warranty and call it a day. And it'll have more power than the original drivetrain ever did.
