New To board

Hi! I have been reading the board for some time and it looks very helpful. I'm currently looking for a 78-79 Z28 or T/A . Is there any major differences between the two? I want a 350 , what are the first mods to do on this engine? I'm guessing headers, exhaust and intake , correct?
Thanks!

Welcome to the world of relativly cheap performance and serious torque

78 and 79 Z's are pretty much the same. The 78 was slightly faster, but with 185hp, it's not exactly impressive. With a head/cam swap (assuming everything else is still healty) it's not expensive to get 350hp at the crank

The 78 still had a forced air rear defroster, in 79 the electric defroster was indroduced. The 79 has the 'new' style instrument cluster and dash (70-78 has the old style). The 79 has the 3 piece front spoiler that wraps around, and the graphics are a little different.

The scoop on both these cars is non-functional, but it's easy to open them up.
