Need a new Carb???

I have a 69 camaro that has what seems to be a sorta beefy disposition to it. i dont know what was done to the car before I bought it and i just got it out and about last week all legal like. I am going to replace the HEI with a pertronics high output and I need a carb. i have on it a carter 750 and its giving me problems. I had it to the shop and they confirmed the get rid of it attitude. I was thinking of a street demon but have no good reason for it. How about a little educated help on a carb for a motor I dont know much of anything about?
Anyone have anny good advice on an sneaky security system?
Thanks

More engine/drive train info would be helpful for size and style choices.

I have Edlebrock's AFB.... They're about worthless, for anything but a daily driver.

For your combo, a Demon 750 would be a great replacement carb. You might also consider a new Holley 750 w/ vacuum secondaries for a strong street/strip carb.
