need brakes for 1st gen
need brakes for 1st gen
I have a 67`camaro with front drum brakes! Where would be a good place to get a factory style disc brake setup and best price
for the kit, don`t need anything fancy just better stopping ability.
I had thought about making my own setup from the junkyard and such, but I need to know what model vehicles will interchange with my car such as spindles, booster, rotors, and such. I have a friend that has a 75 or 76 nova w/front disc he said I could have if I take off, so as you see here i`m just tring to weigh the options should I piece one together or would I be better off buying a kit

Go to www.camaros.net and hit the forums. In the brakes section there is a fellow named David Pozzi. He's the moderator and runs a nice site with exactly the info you are looking for...
I think he uses GM truck calipers, modified caliper mounts, etc. He doesn't sell the stuff, so he gives you part numbers and everything. There is a list of cars you can get the parts from.

You will need to change the spindle, rotor caliper and steering arm (they bolt on)
You'll also need a new master cylinder (disc brake style)
68-74 Novas, Astre, Ventura (x-body) are a direct, bolt in swap (same subframe)
66-74 Chevelle, GTO, Lemans (B-body??) spindles and brakes will bolt on, but you have to use your steering arms (they are front steer, and the arm is shaped differently)
Those are the only ones I know for certain will work, from personal experience!
If you can just find the spindles, the rest can be bought new at any auto parts store.
