My Engine (look!!) Help Me Out!!
hi guys im new to this site so id appreciate all the help i can get. i have a 305 bored .040 over. i got it from a friends dad and i found out it was bored when i took it apart. anyway, one of the heads isnt in bad shape bad the other isnt looking too good. well my question is can i use 350 heads on my block? i want 2.02 and 1.60 valves not 1.90 and 1.50 valves, also i want to know of a site where i can buy 305 parts. ive gone to summit and i cant find anything. im planning on boring it another .020 over so it can be a total of .060 over. once again guys any help would be great!!! thanks a lot!!

With some 2.02/1.60 heads, you will have to look at the valves getting up close and personal with the cylinder walls. Small bore would shroud the valves anyway, so you wouldn't see improvement from bigger valves. Consider Vortec heads. Used with coated steel shim gaskets, compression loss wouldn't be that bad. Flow of these heads would more than make up for it.
If it will run at .040 with just a hone for new rings to seat, consider leaving it there. You will not get much hp from going to 60. And you would save block for a future bore out.

i saw a pair or s/r torqer305 heads in jegs... if you went with them the intakes will probably be cheaper.because with vortec you have to buy a new intake... thats the only reason i havn't gotten them and the intakes aren't nearly as cheap as others
