Forget the new paint job. A high-speed buffer and some 3M compound or Wizard's Turbo Cut followed by some Finish Cut and that sweet looking girl would look good as new! By the way, I like the tiny dent. It looks like it is the only history the ole girl has.
i tried using some cleaners and cut polishes along with some high speed buffing but it managed to do was make the faded paint smooth.
The ding in the pass door is the only damage the car has had, when it got painted all that was done was a strip to bare metal prime and paint no body work needed.

I've owned two 1980 Z-28s years ago. One was the same colour scheme as yours, except mine had the standard body-colour 5-spoke wheels, T-tops, and 4-speed manual. (The other was black, red deluxe interior, auto). You've got a nice, solid car there by the looks of those pics. A paintjob and a bit of interior work, and you'd have a super nice Z28 there.
Why not get it painted and put a resto original stripe kit back on?

hey man... ok well i don't want to burst ur bubble or anything, but if u get anything remotly near 6000 for the car ur extreamly lucky.
try it, but u will see that u will need to drop that price a good bit.

I don't mean to be offending either, but I'm afraid I have to agree with Talos. What you have there is a good starting point for a project, but imho you will be extremely fortunate to get anywhere near 6K for that car. There are simply too many of those year Z/28's made, and they can be had in good condition for $2500-$3500 without too much looking.
As I suggested previously - if you want to get a decent price out of this car, in my opinion you will need to have it repainted and the factory stripe kit reinstalled. Places like Phoenix Graphix make the exact reproduction of your stripe kit for a reasonable cost.
Although this car has no doubt a lot of sentimental family value, out in the shark-infested waters of selling a Z/28 in a market like Vancouver where GM sold huge numbers of those cars back in the day, my strong suggestion is you either look at revising your price to a more realistic value, or restore the car back to original or near-original condition, and then sell it for a higher price.
Good luck in whatever route you decide.

hey guys, no offense is taken to anyones opinion on what it is worth, I have no idea what it is worth, it has just always been around so I dont know what its worth, my buddy suggested the price so I figured what the heck see what happens. I have been the owner of the car for the last 10 years and have put about 50k on the car it was insured for a few summers over the years when the paint was still looking good but after it having to sit for a while under a cover the paint started to become rough.
i dont suggest leaving a car under a cover for long periods of time as it seemed to just make the paint worse.
I have looked at a lot of cars like this around this area and they are all in pretty rough shape, some have ok bodies, but most just look like they should be parked outside a trailer in surrey.
