Motor Decisions

Guys I need some advice. My 68 has a 383 in it and it runs fine, it's been in the car almost 10 years....could always be faster....I am getting ready to re do the car...and am considering a new engine or rebuilding this one. I am staying with the muncie 4 speed...I think!
I have a 327 sitting as well...it needs to be rebuilt.....

What should I do....rebuilt the stroker or build the 327?
Can't decide....help me out....

Looking for a "reliable"(hahahaha) 400hp.....

rebuild the 383 its easier to make 400 hp with it than a 327.

You could rebuild the stroker for the easy way out... Or build up that 327 for a high-reving rocket. The stroker will no doubt put out the most power for the least amount of money imo.

If you decide to sell the stroker, let me know

Thanks guys...

I have a 396 that's already built...but may put that in a 55 shoebox I have in the works...

I am gonna run the car by an engine builder this Saturday and have him take a ride in the car and see what he thinks....

No way would I swap a bigger engine for a smaller one. You will miss the torque of the 383. Last 2 engines I've built have been 400's and I'm looking for another good block to build a spare for future use.

Another vote for the 383. There's nothing wrong with a 327, but if it's that or a 383 then it wouldn't take me long to decide.
