Lt-1 into a 70 Camaro?
Thanks a bunch for that info
We talked to our tranny guy and he strongly recommended us going with the 4l60e also for the same reasons you said. He said we will be able to use our stock tranny crossmember just needs to be moved back a little bit and new holes drilled.
As for the radiator I am going to reuse the 94's radiator as my new one is leaking like my other one was. Just going to have a radiator shop test it for me and fix any problems it may have. Also using the 94's dual electric fans, they are so nice, then the comp will be able to control them correctly.
I am going tonight to look for a book that Car Craft recommended, been reading myself silly lately. We hope to have it in and driveable by September for our area's biggest cruise, at least thats the current goal. At the moment we are still in the strip down phase of the donor car.

I did this swap about 4 years ago in my 68 camaro with a t56 six speed. Just for the record, LT1 engines are reverse flow cooling, meaing the coolant travels to the heads first, and block second. You can use any radiator you want, it does not have to be from a LT1 car.

I recently bought a 68 Camaro with a 94 LT1/4L60E in it. It wasn't a finished project, but it was running. I researched the radiator thing a lot and if you look at the 84-89 Corvette radiator, it has the smaller hose inlet and outlet so it should work well with the LT1. It's a little wide for the 1st gen cars, but might fit fine in the 2nd gen. There's a guy offering the wiring conversion on Ebay so you could use the 94 harness and have it modified for under $300. I just had some Hooker headers with O2 sensor bungs installed and coated so I can run the O2 sensors. And there is a product called the Cable-X which takes the electronic signal from the transmission and runs an electric motor to turn a speedometer cable so you can run your original mechanical speedometer. It's around $270.
i am currently doing the same thing in my 64 chevelle but i am still in the engine building part of it so i cant be of much help to you, but just wanted to give u two big thumbs up for this project.
Thanks for that, same goes to you into a 64 Chevelle (one of my favorite years btw
). I feel pretty confident this will be a straight forward and easy conversion. I have done so much research and educated myself and found it is the common swap to do right now and there are a few pioneers that have done it. The engine is coming out of the 94 today and the prep work starts on the Lt1 and the 70. We figure plug away at it weekend to weekend and we will reach our goal. Our goal to have it road worthy is 8/29 (our Camaro clubs All Camaro show) wish us luck
