Lakewood scatter shields
was wondering if anyone ever run into this problem with lakewood bell housings? I put 1 on my Muncie and bolted it up to my 327 with a new centerforce clutch, plate and bearing, well heres the kicker car running put into gear car starts rolling but you can hear the disc spinning and not engaging all the way? Lake wood says you need a longer bearing? tried to adjust it but with no help, getting ready to throw the original back on and be done with it,I have heard this happen to others and they pretty much did the same.any input would be helpful.

If your throwout bearing is correct height, the clutch fork will be slightly forward of perpendicular to the tranny centerline. If TO is too short, fork will be slightly backward. This is usually a pressure plate/throwout bearing mismatch if it is wrong. If it is wrong, see if it has an adjustable pivot ball that can help. If it won't, they might have sold you wrong part; it's been known to happen.
There is a spring on the end of the fork that works to bounce the TO off the pressure plate when you disengage the clutch. Sometimes guys think it is supposed to be used to clip the TO and will slide the TO flange under it. This causes incomplete disengagement of the TO off the pressure plate. This causes whirring noises cause the TO is spinning when it should be free floating.
