Talking IT's DONE!!!!!!! 9" Installed

Lemme say this, that is one Muth Phu(king Heavy rear
compared to the 10 bolt it wieghts a TON
but it's in
bought it from Currie, installed it last weekend, and now i am HAPPY
it's good for 800 hp Currie said, not like i am even half way near that, but for the future.

what's wierd is i am up 200 rpms on the highway, the 10 bolt was a 3:73, the 9" is a 3:70, plus it feels "slower" in a way, almost like i am pulling a trailer. this thing looks bullet proof. all nodular iron, yada-yada.

the e-brakes hooked right up. the cal tracs went on smoothly.
this thing has a nice bite when you let off the clutch.

at least we can go out cruising now.

Congrats. I've read the 9" uses 10hp more than a 12 bolt due to the pinion gear position in relation to the ring gear; perhaps that is why it feels slower.

The added weight might also be contributing to the slower feel.

i think it's a combo of the two, plus the 10 bolt uses the least amount of power, at the expense of stength.
nonetheless i felt a difference, but the strength is a good piece of mind.

maybe one of these years i'll build the 455 up.

all in all the install wasn't bad, gotta remeber i am working in a 10*25 storage garage, so it's a little cramped. i had a few hang ups, like getting the driveshaft made, cause the other one was damaged.
so from taking the old one out to installing the new one and setting the cal trac bars to dropping the tranny to open the shifter housing to pour the tranny fluid, playing with the e-brakes, opening the old rear to look at it, yada - yada i'd say between the two days, 16 hours.
most of it was by myself, with dad helping to position the rear.

manuvering the jacks and stuff paying attention to not scratching the car, is time consuming, plus i wasted a few hours on the tranny fluid install.

so if you are better prepared, or slightly more "gung-ho" then i am, and didnt have the tranny fluid issue i have, easily done in a few hours.

i honestly dont think i would have need a drive shaft mod if my old one was good. it appears the driveshaft needed to be an inch shorter compared to having the 10 bolt.
