Intake Gasket question....

Hello everyone, me again.

Thanks for the replies to my previous thread, they help alot.

I have another question:

The engine is a fist gen chevy 350 block, nothing to it. Just headers, edelbrock intake, edelbrock 600cfm carb.

The question is regarding intake gaskets. I need to know what benefit (if any) is there to using the little plates that is intended to restrict a passage that runs from one head to the other thru the intake manifold. These get affixed to the intake gasket.

What are they for? Do I need them? What if I don't use them? Which side do I put them on? both sides?

Sorry for the questions, but I have never seen these when I was a teen budget building (keeping my car running) engines.

Again, Thanks for all replies, it helps to get other folks views and knowledge.

Aaron

use them both. They restrict some of the heat crossing under your intake. The heat crossover is designed to help warm up the fuel charge but unless you live in the cold states, it ends up hurting performance.

Thanks Rev, This puts my mind at ease. I think I am overthinking this stuff a little.
